Chapters are the beating heart of EWB. Across Canada chapter members are taking thoughtful and strategic actions to create profound social change in their universities, companies, and communities.
The Engineers Without Borders UBC Chapter is a launching pad for ideas to create a new generation of critical thinkers focused on alleviating poverty and to abolish apathy. We are growing a culture of feedback and demonstrate our values by actually changing the world through the ventures we operate and the outcome areas we support. EWB UBC is facilitating connection amongst UBC community members and introducing them to new perspectives in order to foster better global, holistic thinkers and actors.
Throughout the year we partake in technical and non-technical projects that fit our mission. This year, we will be working on a food distribution app, Scrapless, and a hydroponics project. We also host a variety of events throughout the year. You do not have to be an engineer to join! We have members from a variety of faculties. We also love to hear new and different perspectives.
At UBC EWB, we are composed of different ‘ventures’. These ventures each have their own focus, such as the Sustainability venture or the Fair Trade venture, and host weekly meeting to focus on their own goals and discussions. Then, on Tuesdays all the ventures come together in the General Meeting to share what is happening within their meetings and to share their ideas.
Our chapter is powered by forward-thinking, problem solving, and hardworking change-makers. Get to know some of the people involved in our community.View profiles
